Seeing a need for a full-service tool & die welding repair company in the West Michigan area, MPD Welding-Grand Rapids Inc. was opened in 1985 to fill that void. In that time, MPD Welding-GR Inc. has expanded significantly and has become a world-class leader in welding technology and tool & die repair. Starting off in a 5000 square foot facility, MPD Welding has expanded to its current 35,000 square foot facility.

Throughout the years, MPD Welding has been on the forefront of new welding and heat treating technologies. MPD Welding was one of the first shops in the country to embrace heat treating procedures to reduce and prevent residual cracks in dies and molds. This innovation has lead to significant cost savings for our customers through the years.

MPD Welding has also adopted high tech welding procedures such as Micro TIG and Micro Laser welding. Using the latest in welding technologies, we are able to lay down beads as small as 0.0030 of an inch without the effects of hazing or warping in the heat affected zone, which is critical in the mold making process.
